青年古箏演奏家羅小慈，出生於江蘇省泰州市。在父親羅天成的悉心指導下，五歲習書畫，七歲習箏。八歲時，其書法作品已隨江蘇省教育考察團赴日本進行交流。十三歲，考入上海音樂學院附中，同年，獲「ART杯中國樂器國際比賽」少年專業組二等獎。畢業於上海音樂學院民族音樂系，先後師從閻愛華、郭雪君、何寶泉、孫文妍等教授。求學期間，深得中國音樂學院古箏藝術家王中山先生、趙曼琴先生的頗多教益。現為上海民族樂團獨奏演員。她以獨奏家的身份應邀參加了中國藝術節開幕式，第四屆中國京劇藝術節開幕式，第七屆世界文化部長年會等演出活動。其演出足跡遍佈世界各地，維也納金色大廳、香榭里舍大劇院、漢堡國會中心、聯合國教科文大廳、烏克蘭國家歌劇院等都曾留下了她的琴聲。二○○一年，上海之春國際音樂節中舉辦《羅小慈獨奏音樂會》，同時舉辦了其個人書畫展。多年來，她在繼承傳統的基礎上打破單一演奏的模式，運用多種藝術手段力圖呈現出箏的豐富內蘊。
LUO Xiao-ci
LUO Xiao-ci was born in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. With the cultivation of her father, she began to learn painting and calligraphy at the age of five and the zheng at the age of seven. At the age of thirteen she was admitted to the affiliated middle school of Shanghai Conservatory. In the same year, she won the second prize of juvenile group in ART Cup China International Musical Instrument Contest. After she was graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory, she studied under professor YAN Ai-hua, GUO Xue-jun, HE Bao-quan and SUN Wen-yan, etc. During her study, she benefited a lot from WANG Zhong-shan, ZHAO Man-qing, the celebrated Guzheng artist of China Conservatory. Now she is the soloist in Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. As a soloist, she has been invited to participate in many important opening ceremonies of Arts Festivals in China. She has set her foot on many parts of the world; she has performed in Vienna Golden Hall, Champs-Elysee Opera House, Hamburger National Assembly Center, the hall of UNESCO and Ukraine National Opera House. During the 2001 Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, the Luo Xiaoci Solo Concert was held and her personal painting and calligraphy show was also held. For many years, she has broken a monotonous performing style on the basis of traditional heritage, and incorporated many artistic styles in her performance to enhance the profoundity of Guzheng music.
