笙演奏家阎海登，一九三○年出生于山西省定襄县王进村，二○○四年四月五日病逝于天津，亨年七十四岁。八岁随于南王村艺人张褐宝习笙、唢呐、笛等吹管及打击乐器。一九五三年，参加山西民间音乐舞蹈汇演后，入天津歌舞团（即天津歌舞剧院），任独奏演奏员至离休。五十年代末，阎氏创编并演奏甚具特色之笙曲《晋调》与《孔雀开屏》。阎氏著有《笙的演奏法》（与人合作）一书。阎氏为中国笙会荣誉会长、中央音乐学院客作教授、中国音乐学院客作教授、第三届全国人大代表、中国音乐家协会会员。
YAN Hay-den
YAN Hay-den was born in 1930 in Dingxiang county, Shanxi province and passed away of illness at the age of seventy-four on April 5, 2004 in Tianjin. He learned the sheng, suona, dizi and percussions from ZHANG He-bao at the age of eight. In 1953, he was selected to participate in the Join Performances of Folk Music and Dance of Shanxi Province, since that he was appointed to the Song and Dance Troupe of Tianjin as a soloist until his retirement. At the end of 1950s, he composed and successfully performed the famous sheng solo pieces Melody of Jin and A Peacock Displaying His Feathers. He wrote the book Performance Skills of Sheng together with other musician. He was the Honorable Chairman of the Sheng Association of China, visiting professor of Central Conservatory and China Conservatory, member of the Chinese Musicians’ Association.
